2005 JUDGES
Joy Miller
Joy Miller is Exhibitions Curator for the Las Cruces
Museum of Fine Art, Las Cruces, New Mexico. She has worked
for the LCMFA since 2000. Ms. Miller has developed over 20
major exhibitions for the Museum of Fine Art, including
The Treasures of Mata Ortiz (2004), Challenging
Tradition; New Directions in Fiber (2004), and The
Terrain juried exhibition, a regional exhibition on
the landscapes of the desert southwest (2004). Prior to
her work at the museum, Ms. Miller worked in various
museum capacities such as Gallery Preparator for the
University Art Gallery, New Mexico State University, and
Gallery Manager, Sampson Art Gallery, Greenville, PA.
Ms. Miller is originally from
Pittsburgh, PA. She holds a Master of Fine Art degree in
sculpture from Kent State University, Kent, OH. Ms. Miller
has lived in the southwest since 1997 and is currently a
resident of Mesilla, NM.

Florence Schwein
Florence Schwein is currently the Director of the
Centennial Museum, The University of Texas, El Paso. Mrs.
Schwein holds Master's Degree in Museum Education with a
focus on Art History from The George Washing University,
Washington, D.C. She also holds a Business Certificate
from Marycrest College, Kankakee, IL; an A. A. in
Liberal Arts from Blackwood Community College and a
Bachelors in Studio Art from George Mason University,
Fairfax, Virginia. To her impeccable list of credits, Mrs.
Schwein served as the Outreach Director at the Smithsonian
Institution's Renwick Gallery and has taught humanities
and art history at George Mason University, Southeastern
University and Montgomery County College. Presently she
teaches Museum Studies at The University of Texas at El
Paso. |
